ON READING
The great Andre Kertesz published a delightful little book called "On Reading" in 1971. I stumbled upon it years ago in the library and loved it. Shortly thereafter I received a used copy as a very welcome gift from my wife. (It has since been reissued in paper cover but my vintage hardback copy is much cooler.)
I am more than a bit of a book and reading fanatic myself so I shamelessly picked up the idea not only as homage to Kertesz but because the pictures were so charming. As it turned out I already had quite a few photographs of people reading. They, people who are reading, are easy targets -- once they are absorbed in their book the rest of the world vanishes.
